Week 2---"Hardest Thing....

I think the hardest thing here is designing like an advertiser. When I create things, they are compositions--void of any goals, ideas, or objectives. It has been really a challenge designing in a corporate context, becasue I feel a lot of the work is 'emotionless'. Not that it's the worst thing in the world, but quite an experience creating things that you have no attachment to. Some of my projects do allow me freedom, which is always great. I get excited at the thought of being able to use use more than three colors in a design, lol! Nonetheless, this is great experience for me. I love working here, and designing for SHM enhances my skills everyday. I think that I have learned something new upon each day working at SHM. I think the skills from this experience will not make me only more knowledgeable, but more versatile and marketable in the working world. I appreciate everything that I learn. I like to solve problems (graphic designers are visual solutionist),and each time I run into a wall, I find my way out. Most of the time I can figure things out, but there is nithing wrong with asking questions! I will be here for five more months. In no time, I will obtain fluency designing in the context of SHM, to the point it become second nature. I will become more senstive to color choices, and most importantly typographicial hierarchy. I know working here was meant to be, and eventually I will be called utilize my skills to in another or similar arena.
