The worst travel experience I ever had occured on a trip with my family about five years ago. We traveled to Boston for the weekend to visit my aunt. It was in the middle of winter in New England so it was cold and they ended up having a mini blizzard while we were there. My aunt and uncle live alone without their grown children so it's understandable that the apartment is extremely small. My family and I ended up being trapped in this tiny apartment for the next couple days; having seven people in a small space is not the most comfortable situation in the world. We also had school to attend since the snow fell onto a week day but luckily our area had experienced heavy snow as well and school was cancelled. This experience taught me that vacations do not always go as planned and that it is a GREAT idea to check the weather first ! When my sister and I traveled together to Miami without our parents it was a little scary but the most important thing to do when traveling alone is to plan first; it so much easier to do anything when you know exactly what your doing before hand and it's good to read tips that people write on traveladvisor.com as well ! Good luck Meredith ! :)
