Hi all! My name is Victoria Lam. I am currently a sophomore at Drexel University majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and International Business and a minor in Fine Arts. I also work part-time at Reger Rizzo & Darnall, a law firm in West Philadelphia. I want to dabble in all areas of business before I decide exactly what I want to be when I grow up. As an hands-on type of person, I can't say I don't like something before try it. Some things I have decided I love: baking, The Oprah Show, and traveling.
My main goal over the next six months is to be proud of all the work that I will have accomplished at SHM. I took this job because I did not want to spend my day mindlessly filing paperwork. I want to be able to offer opinions, creativity, and ideas that matter. From the beginning I knew that I would find that in a smaller company. Thus, a close-knit working environment was very important to me.
Additionally, over the next six months, I want to become a more independent person. This includes being an independent worker, learner, and thinker. A large portion of my life thus far has consisted of following directions. When we're young, we start grade school and just follow all the rules. (Most of us, anyway.) Then we graduate to college, where "following the rules" is a phrase taken lightly. But now, as a part of the working industry, I feel as if I have the power to create the rules of my own work.
And ultimately, by the end of my sixth month, I will want to have decided whether or not marketing is something that I will consider doing for the rest of my life. Though my guess is yes. I have enjoyed being involved in all sorts of marketing organizations and events; and I can safely say that I loved each and every single one of them. Hopefully, SHM will continue to make me feel that way.
Fun fact about someone: Today, I learned Kari and I are practically neighbors. Cherry Hill, New Jersey - represent!

Hello - I was just searching blogs and happen to come across yours. I also realized that you are working where I will be starting work as of this coming Monday! (Reger Rizzo and Darnall) Great to hear it was a great first day for you (back in March)
