Celeb Role Model

This question is a tough one just because I've never really thought of it before now. The person who automatically pops into head is somebody I admire just because of the success they've had and the obstacles they have overcome to be where they are today. This person is the one and the only Oprah Winfrey. Her story is truly rags to riches and she turned all that has happened to her into something positive. She owns her own tv networks, has her own magazine, had an extremely long-running talk show, and is one of the richest women in the world. She also gives back by building schools in Africa so children will be able to be educated. She is a definately a leader and an inspiration to many women around the world. :)

Living the Dream

My celebrity role model would have to be Richard Branson. Branson is a man of many ventures and sticks out as one of a kind. A self-made billionaire and one of the world’s greatest entrepreneurs is one of the few reasons I find him so fascinating. Richard Branson did not become famous for acting or singing or even playing sports. He set his life goals high and through hard work stands where he does now. What makes him so interesting isn’t just his business accomplishments, it’s his personality, a life enthusiast. Not many figures of his stature live a life as unpredictable as he does. A great quote from Branson’s autobiography reads, “My interest in life comes from setting myself huge, apparently unachievable challenges and trying to rise above them...from the perspective of wanting to live life to the full, I felt that I had to attempt it.” In my opinion Branson should be a role model to anyone who is looking to achieve a goal or live out their life and the pursuit of happiness. I have had the opportunity to personally meet Richard Branson and hear him talk about his life and careers. The more you know about the man the more you have to respect him and his unbelievable life.

I would have to say my celebrity role model is Rachel Zoe. Rachel Zoe is not exactly a celebrity, but she does work with celebrities on a daily basis and has her own reality show. For those who don't know who she is, Rachel Zoe is a celebrity stylist who has her own fashion line as well.

What draws me to her the most is her work ethic. I love how strong of a woman entreprenuer she is, and it doesn't hurt that her taste is flawless. Zoe is confident, successful, and kind. These three qualitites are all of what I want to encompass myself. She became well known for her work, not a scandal.

My celebrity role model is Reese Witherspoon. I'm sure you all know who she is, but if you don't Reese is an extremely talented actress who has been in a number of movies including Legally Blonde, Sweet Home Alabama, and Walk the Line. She also runs a production company, majored in English at Stanford University, and is a mom to 2 adorable kids named Ava & Deacon.

Reese is my celebrity role model for so many reasons. She is a wholesome, strong, independant woman who always carries herself with an extreme amount of dignity and class (while always looking quite glamorous). While acting is important to her, she knows that there are other important things in life and she doesn't let herself get caught up in all the drama of hollywood. She respects herself and her family and does things with the best intentions. She is extremely hardworking and successful but is not selfish and gives back to those that are less fortunate. She is a very positive person and accepts the challenges life throws at her head on. She is extremely determined and never lets anything keep her from reaching her goals. All in all, she just exemplifies the kind of person I want to be. Successful, independant, caring, respectful, and classy. Basically, she's awesome.

why co-op rocks!

The co-op experience is a great part of Drexel. While it may take 5 years to graduate, as opposed to 4, you still get a year and a half of real world experience. This real world experience is as real as it gets, from the interviews to the actual job. And through the co-op experience, we are treated as a part of the full time staff instead of just being the lowly intern.

The best part of co-op is knowing what its like to be employed and how to get employed before we are thrown into society. this allows us to get a hold of the world before we sucked into the chaos of the downside of society. We have a jump start on how to function outside of family and college life, on how to live by ourselves.

Another gleaming aspect of the co-op program is that we get a foothold in our prospective careers. We get to make an impact in our career before we're out of college. We also get to experience our career first hand and find out if we choose the right career path for ourselves.

What is your favorite thing about co-op? (Not just SHM, but co-op in general). Nobody is allowed to say "no homework!" because that's my answer. Be specific!

Drexel’s co-op program is definitely the aspect that separates them from the other private schools and state schools in Pennsylvania. The idea of having a paid internship is a perfect concept, for you are able to learn a significant amount about your area of study, while still being able to support yourself as well. You can almost think of co-op as a combination of going to school full-time and working a part-time job. It consumes a significant amount of your time, requires dedication and hard work, you’re expected to complete all your tasks and projects accordingly and on-time, and concludes with a paycheck at the end of the week. Co-op, aside from its athletics and academic reputation was the primary reason I selected Drexel as my school of choice. Having 3 internships throughout college is a ridiculous edge you have over students from other schools. While those students résumés have employment experiences like waiters/waitresses, cashiers, and sales associates, mine will contain one and a half years of hands-on marketing experience for corporate companies.
