Stone Harbor

My favorite vacation spot is Stone Harbor, New Jersey. We go every year to the shore down there. It is a very nice, non-commercial, family oriented beach. There isn't a boardwalk or huge attractions. Stone Harbor is a very simple town with houses and a little downtown shopping area. My favorite place to go while in Stone Harbor is either Springer's Homemade Ice Cream Shop or Uncle Bill's Pancake House. Both are so good! It is one of the treats my family gets to do while we are down there. I also love how quiet the beach and everything around it is. Since there isn't a boardwalk its a lot quieter at night and a lot less crowded during the day which makes it so much more relaxing. Someday when I'm older I hope to get a beach house there and be able to go down whenever I feel like it!

Carmel by the Sea

I love beaches, so I would say that my all-time favorite vacation spot is where beautiful beaches are. I have been to the ocean side in the West Coast, where I fell in love with a small beach town named Carmel by the Sea near Santa Cruz. There are blocks of vintage souvenir stores and local restaurants which are outfitted by French style. The classy look of streets, stores, and houses just makes you feel so calming and heart-warming. Those stoney walls with bushes of roses of the exterior decoration filled people in romance and enchantment, which I think this place would be a wonderful idea for an anniversary trip. Small lane, flowers, open air with brick walls... I walked down few blocks and already approached the shore. It was breath-taking beach and sandy smell. That beautiful shore just completes the small town in a way that no one could never stop coming back here again and again...

Cape May

My favorite vacation spot is Cape May in New Jersey. My family has been going to Cape May ever since my mom was little (which is a pretty long time). I have spent all my summers there up until the time I made the brilliant decision to go to Drexel and I now no longer have a summer (but I get to work at SHM instead!) My family use to have a house in Cape May that we sold when I was about 6, but fortunately that same year my aunt decided to get a house there. The one thing that I looked forward to the most was spending my summer with my cousin Alyssa. Alyssa and I are very close, but we would not get to see each other that often during the school year. So the summer time was our time. Luckily, she now goes to Drexel so I get to see her all the time! I love going to Cape May not only for the beach, but because there are so many memories there. Having my first job there when I was 14, getting ice cream with my cousins every single night, eating way too much fudge from the Fudge Kitchen and many more. Even though I don’t get to spend my summers there anymore I try my best to make it down on the weekends. It’s always a great time and talking about it now really makes me want to go!

The picture I posted is of my Grandma and Grandpa from a long time ago in Cape May. My great aunt had a small little boat house by the water.

Favorite vacation spot

Definitely Ocean City Maryland.  Beautiful, non mile and a half wide beaches, awesome boardwalk (with the best soft serve and salt water taffy ANYWHERE), and just one of the most pleasant cities to be in.  Plus, it's on a peninsula, and it's only about 2-3 blocks wide at points.  So you have the ocean on your left, and a block or two over you have the bay.  A short drive can take you to Assateague Island, where there lives herds of completely wild/feral horses.  My family used to  go there for a week every summer, but unfortunately my grandparents cannot easily make the trip anymore.

What is your all-time favorite vacation spot, and why? Pictures optional, but encouraged.

Elevator Speech

My name is Greg Oprendek. I’m currently a marketing assistant at the Society of Hospital Medicine. I work in the membership department, so my main goal is customer service to members and managing the data systems we have to keep track of members. I work with physicians firsthand on a daily basis and act as a liaison between SHM and the physicians. I also do research on hospital medicine groups that our society has an interest in working with. I find as much information as I can on these groups so that we can have an idea what they do and how we can help them further the advancement of hospital medicine as an industry. I also work closely with the marketing department often. I research different promotions for our annual meeting and search for different outlets we can use to market the meeting and our organization.
